Hello, have you taken up your shield of faith for today?
Ephesians 6:16 (NASB)
16 in addition to all, taking up the shield of faith with which you will be able to extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one.
It is important to know that we should never even get out of bed and put our physical clothes on but for get to take up the shield of faith. Paul the Apostle uses the inmaginary of a Roman soldier who is taking up his shield to go into battle. In the same manner, we must realize there is a raging battle taking place in the unseen dimension between the forces of good and evil.
The shied of the Roman solider was about 4 ft high and 2.5 ft wide. It was suficient enough to cover the soldier’s whole body thereby protecting him from “flaming arrows” of the enemy. It has been mention in the historical background that these shields were sometime made of sheets of animal skins sewn together or some type of wicker construction. There were dipped in a liquid that would quich the flaming darts as the shield provided protection for the whole body.
Some historians suggests that as the enemies of the Romans became more wise, they developed a super dart that was more like a missle. This super dart had a metal head that was about 3 ft long that could pierce the Roman shield. In the middle of this missle dart was burning fire that would not be quinched by the shield. The heat from the “missle dart” would cause the soldier to throw his shied to the ground leaving his vital organs exposed to additional weapons exposing the soldier to “death blows”. The “falarica” as this missle dart was called could be launched from a distance.
Christians today must be aware of “falaricas” that are the missle darts of Satan launched from a distance at our mind. Launched over the social media networks from “strong holds” in the national media, entertainment networks, educational system. The “falarica” of social norms that is used to sway our thought processes and magnetize our moral compasses that twist good in evil and evil into good. The very idea that a “lttle sin” is alright. One sin is like a string of deadly pearls in which one is connected to another. Our self confidence is combustable. Self confidence leads us in to neglecting the Word of God following the hibitual actions of the daily grind. Faith still comes by hearing and hearing by the Word of God. Romans 10:17.
Take up the shield of faith, take up your Bible, read and meditate on Scripture. 2 Timothy 3:16-17 (NASB)
16 All Scripture is inspired by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, for training in righteousness; 17 so that the man of God may be adequate, equipped for every good work.
