Is The Devil Real?

In a poll taken by we find this result:

“Four out of ten Christians (40%) strongly agreed that Satan “is not a living being but is a symbol of evil.” An additional two out of ten Christians (19%) said they “agree somewhat” with that perspective. A minority of Christians indicated that they believe Satan is real by disagreeing with the statement: one-quarter (26%) disagreed strongly and about one-tenth (9%) disagreed somewhat. The remaining 8% were not sure what they believe about the existence of Satan”

Are we all just to be incline to this “seed of thought”.It would appear that is the truth today. Even worse then that is that the exsistance of the Holy Spirit is questioned.

The text in Revaltion 12:1-ff reveals a fight that broke out on in heaven between Michael an angel of light and Satan or the devil and his angels. The outcome shows that Satan lost this battle and was cast down to the earth where he continues to be an “accuser of the bretheren” or believers of the truth as it is in the Lord Jesus Christ.

Jesus Christ Believe The Devil Is Real

It is amazing that the “elect of God”, Christians have been “deceived by the devil” into doubting his existance. The Word of God informs us that the devil exist. Listen what the Lord Jesus Christ says in John 8:44 (NASB)
44 “You are of your father the devil, and you want to do the desires of your father. He was a murderer from the beginning, and does not stand in the truth because there is no truth in him. Whenever he speaks a lie, he speaks from his own nature, for he is a liar and the father of lies.

The Apostle Peter Believed The Devil Is Real

We see that Ananias in the 5th chapter of the book of Acts lied about an offering to the church. It appears that he promised to give one thing but his mind was changed by Satan/the Devil.Acts 5:1-3 (NASB)
1 But a man named Ananias, with his wife Sapphira, sold a piece of property,
2 and kept back some of the price for himself, with his wife’s full knowledge, and bringing a portion of it, he laid it at the apostles’ feet.
3 But Peter said, “Ananias, why has Satan filled your heart to lie to the Holy Spirit and to keep back some of the price of the land?

Since Satan/the devil is the “father of the lie”, we can see that if a Christian comes into agreement with the devil, he will be able to “filled our heart” with the seed of lies.

Peter also pointed out the devil is real in 1 Peter 5:8 (NASB)
8 Be of sober spirit, be on the alert. Your adversary, the devil, prowls around like a roaring lion, seeking someone to devour. The word adversary means “one who opposes and accuses Christians.

The Apostle Paul Believed The Devil Is Real

Paul had experience being opposed by the devil has he struggle against him in his ministry.1 Thessalonians 2:18 (NASB)
18 For we wanted to come to you—I, Paul, more than once—and yet Satan hindered us.

The Apostle is revealing to us that he was “hindered by Satan/the devil. The devil is an supernatural enemy of humankind. Although we can’t see this master puppeteer of humans, the devil is real to the Apostle Paul.

The Apostle Paul goes on to point out that the battle against devil is a supernatural battle requiring “supernatural armor..

The Apostle Paul closes with this exhortation:Ephesians 6:10-12 (NASB)
10 Finally, be strong in the Lord and in the strength of His might.
11 Put on the full armor of God, so that you will be able to stand firm against the schemes of the devil.
12 For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the powers, against the world forces of this darkness, against the spiritual forces of wickedness in the heavenly places.

The heavenly places is the invisible sphere that invisible beings occupy. Paul also points out that our struggle is not against “flesh and blood. Jesus Christ, the Apostle Peter and the Apostle Paul believe and know that the devil is real. What about you?
