2 Timothy 4:7-9 (NASB)
7 I have fought the good fight, I have finished the course, I have kept the faith;
8 in the future there is laid up for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will award to me on that day; and not only to me, but also to all who have loved His appearing.
9 Make every effort to come to me soon;
As I noted in Part 1, that the church is at war with the world systems that have their own laws that are put in place by the “gods of me”.. The “good fight” is one that is not against “flesh and blood” as the war against the church is being waged in the “heavenly realms” or what many refer to as the invisible realm.
Ephesians 6:10-12 (NASB)
10 Finally, be strong in the Lord and in the strength of His might.
11 Put on the full armor of God, so that you will be able to stand firm against the schemes of the devil.
12 For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the powers, against the world forces of this darkness, against the spiritual forces of wickedness in the heavenly places.
The above text gives clues about the combatants of spiritual warfare. The Apostle Paul is putting the final touches on the book of Ephesians which some have called the “Christian constitution”. Notice that in vi0 Paul gives us the source of the “hard fighting soldiers strength” as he calls the Lord’s people to be strong in the Lord and in the strength of His might” The “good fight” is not fought in our “own physical strength” but in the Lord’s strength.
In Eph 6:11, The Apostle Paul the hard fighting soldier to “put on the full armor of God”. This lets us know that in order to “stand firm” and not lose any spiritual ground in this world individuals or congregations of the Lord Jesus Christ, we all must put on the full armor of God. Many Christians today, have no knowledge of the God’s armor. Some have knowledge of the armor but don’t understand how to put it on.
In Eph. 6:12 we see the results the “hard fighting soldiers” will receive by putting on the “full armor” of God.. Hard fighting soldiers will be able to “stand firm” against the schemes and strategies of the devil. I believe “standing firm” allows the hard fighting soldier to resist the devil James 4:7 (NASB)
7 Submit therefore to God. Resist the devil and he will flee from you.
Standing firm may also express the idea of being unmovable and steadfast.in the work of the Lord. Paul writes in
1 Corinthians 15:58 (NASB)
58 Therefore, my beloved brethren, be steadfast, immovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, knowing that your toil is not in vain in the Lord
The Lord Jesus Christ has never lost a battle and never will! The hard fighting soldiers of the cross are more then conquerors in Christ Jesus. Romans 8:37 (NASB)
37 But in all these things we overwhelmingly conquer through Him who loved us. Having done all to stand, Keep Standing, Keep Standing, Keep Standing.
