John 8:30-32 (NIV)
30 Even as he spoke, many put their faith in him.
31 To the Jews who had believed him, Jesus said, “If you hold to my teaching, you are really my disciples.
32 Then you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.”
Everyone who is a believer knows Jn 8:32 in as much as the truth will set you free. We know that this most likely refers to the truth as ii is in the Lord Jesus Christ for we know that in John 14:6 that the Lord Jesus Christ also said:John 14:6 (NIV)
6 Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.
Well, how do we use the truth of God the Father and the Lord Jesus Christ to “guard our hearts and minds” to set them free from all that “negative chatter” that can get to the best of us and cause discouragement on our lives.
In Psalms 1:2 king David wrote this:Psalm 1:2 (NIV)
2 But his delight is in the law of the LORD, and on his law he meditates day and night. Notice that the “happy man” meditated on the law of God day and night. King David is filling his heart with the truth of God that brought him hope an victory in tough situations in life that is sometime filled with visions of impossibities if we leave our hearts open to the noise of world.
In Psalms 57:1-11 we read where David who is in a bad situation for he has fled from king Saul to a cave or stronghold. David now starts telling himself the truth about God.
Psalm 57:1-11 (NIV)
Have mercy on me, O God, have mercy on me, for in you my soul takes refuge. I will take refuge in the shadow of your wings until the disaster has passed.
2 I cry out to God Most High, to God, who fulfills [his purpose] for me.
3 He sends from heaven and saves me, rebuking those who hotly pursue me; Selah God sends his love and his faithfulness.
4 I am in the midst of lions; I lie among ravenous beasts– men whose teeth are spears and arrows, whose tongues are sharp swords.
5 Be exalted, O God, above the heavens; let your glory be over all the earth.
6 They spread a net for my feet– I was bowed down in distress. They dug a pit in my path– but they have fallen into it themselves. Selah
7 My heart is steadfast, O God, my heart is steadfast; I will sing and make music.
8 Awake, my soul! Awake, harp and lyre! I will awaken the dawn.
9 I will praise you, O Lord, among the nations; I will sing of you among the peoples.
10 For great is your love, reaching to the heavens; your faithfulness reaches to the skies.
11 Be exalted, O God, above the heavens; let your glory be over all the earth.
What ever you may be going through, contrary winds and the unexpected storms of life. God has a purpose for v2 and His great love reaches to the heavens, His faithfulness reaches to the skies. Never fear what the adversary can do to you for our God is faithful even when we are not an thats the truth.
