The Words We Speak

1 Peter 4:11 (NKJV)
11  If anyone speaks, let him speak as the oracles of God. If anyone ministers, let him do it as with the ability which God supplies, that in all things God may be glorified through Jesus Christ, to whom belong the glory and the dominion forever and ever. Amen.

Proverbs 18:21 (NKJV)
21  Death and life are in the power of the tongue, And those who love it will eat its fruit.

13 An evil man is ensnared uby the transgression of his lips, vbut the righteous escapes from trouble.

Proverbs 12:13

The Words We Speak Becomes A Core Value

I grow up in a household under “old school” rules. No one in our house was perfect by any means but if a sign was put up over the entrance to our house, it would read. “You are now entering the “I Can Zone”, No one was allowed to speak the dread words “I Can’t”. “I Can” became a core value for me and still is today.

Sometimes communities of faith can become an “I Can’t Zone”. Only “failures in life” are the majority of things discussed. The tongue has the ability to “kill” or give “life” by the words it speaks. I have seen the tongue “kill” a spiritual work and give life to a “carnal work through a positive of negative thought expressed.

The Words We Speak Have Power

The power in the words we speak is not just one directional. They are a two edge sword similar to the Word of God(Heb. 4:12). The careless “tongue user” can curse others but also curse themselves as well. “An evil man is ensnared by the transgressions of his lips”(Proverbs 12:18)

The Words We Speak Determines Our Destiny

What you speak about will come about. A careless tongue marks a carless life.

36 I tell you, son the day of judgment tpeople will give account for uevery careless word they speak,

Matthew 12:36

The solution to a careless tongue is to let all the words that fall from our lips are words God himself would speak. God through the “Word” Jesus Christ spoke light, order and life into a world of darkness, chaos and death. We must speak words of grace not condemnation. Speak words of peace and not war. The words we speak must be words of love and not hate. Let us speak “God speak”. The life you save may very well be your own.
