The Danger Of Doubt

  Matthew 14:28-31 (NASB)
28  Peter said to Him, “Lord, if it is You, command me to come to You on the water.”
29  And He said, “Come!” And Peter got out of the boat, and walked on the water and came toward Jesus.
30  But seeing the wind, he became frightened, and beginning to sink, he cried out, “Lord, save me!”
31  Immediately Jesus stretched out His hand and took hold of him, and *said to him, “You of little faith, why did you doubt?”

Peter was doing just find in walking on water. This is impossible for man but all things are possible for God. What I like about Peter was that in v28, he affirmed that if this person he saw was the Lord Jesus Christ, that he would be able to walk on water held up by His power. He believed if Jesus said it, that settled it.

Peter gets out of the boat and begin to walk on the water with ease. Peter was walking by faith and not by sight.

 2 Corinthians 5:7 (NASB)
7  for we walk by faith, not by sight—
In v30, we find Peter seemed to have a change of heart. Peter start looking at the power of the wind, and fear replaced the (little faith) and he begin to sink. But Peter in his circumstance asked the Lord Jesus Christ to save him.” Jesus stretched out His hand”, Jesus who came with Grace and Truth took hold of Peter’s hand and saved him.

Dear friend, you may be in a “sinking circumstance” from the addiction of sin, failing finances, terminal disease, chronic disease. You feel yourself sinking and about to give up. There is the Lord Jesus Christ who is merciful and compassionate that will lift you out of the angry waves of live.

I remember the day when I was fishing with my Dad in a boat on a very deep and grassy lake. I had my little fishing pole and I wanted to fish out a little farther from the boat. My Dad told me to set down before I fell out of the boat. But doubting what my Father said, I stood up while I thought he wasn’t looking. When I stood up, the boat went out from under me and I was sinking. I was going down for the third time and had stop struggling but God through my Dad’s strong hands, grab me by my shirt collar and lifted me up.

Yes that was the love of 2 fathers, my earthly father and my heavenly Father. I was save that day by the Power of God. There are those who don’t believe there is a God, Lord Jesus Christ and the Holy Spirit. But as for me and my house we will serve the Lord. Joshua 24:15. Never doubt the Lord Jesus Christ! God is real! Never doubt for God will always bring you out!
