Tell Hell I’ve Changed My Mind

[rev_slider hell1]

I discovered this subject matter from the title of a sermon by Bro. Gavin from the Wyoming church in Detroit, Michigan. It is a title that a Christian can actually fill in the suffix. “Tell Hell I’ve Have Changed My Mind-( About Leaving The Church).

In the book of Job, we see a “faithful saint” suffering for a reason that is beyond the human mind to imagine or contemplate. The book never gives us “human understanding” of why the righteous suffer.

Job is suffering in what he perceives as a “living hell” and can not figure out reason or rhyme. Let us notice 3 points about how to deal with suffering as a Christian. Now the Apostle Peter has said, “if any man suffers as a Christian, let him not be ashamed” Many times saints “suffer from previous addictions” they have picked up in the world and if God does not deliver them right away, they get discouraged and leave the church.

I. Since All Life Is in God’s Hand, Tell Hell I Have Changed My Mind About Leaving The Church. Job 12:10, Acts 17:24-28,Col 1:16-17,Matt. 16:18-19

When a Christian is suffering from past addictive sin, there is a temptation to give up on God and go back to a “living hell”. The cravings seem unbearable. In spite of the pain  and cravings, God is faithful to what He has promised.  John 8:31-32, 36

John 8:31-32 (NASB)
31  So Jesus was saying to those Jews who had believed Him, “If you continue in My word, then you are truly disciples of Mine;
32  and you will know the truth, and the truth will make you free.”
John 8:36 (NASB)
36  So if the Son makes you free, you will be free indeed.

During the suffering, the believer must stand firm. Not doubting or wavering in their faith.Jesus must be our Lord not our part time consultant. The Scripture tells us in 1 Peter 5:9-10 1 Peter 5:9-10 (NASB)
9  But resist him (devil), firm in your faith, knowing that the same experiences of suffering are being accomplished by your brethren who are in the world.
10  After you have suffered for a little while(God’s limiting grace), the God of all grace, who called you to His eternal glory in Christ, will Himself perfect, confirm, strengthen and establish YOU.

“Tell hell that  you have change your mind” about leaving the church of Christ because it’s hell proof. There is only ONE church, ONE institution that can make this claim and that’s the church of the Bible, the church of Christ”. Listen to what the Lord Jesus Christ says in Matt 16:18. Matthew 16:18 (NASB)
18  I also say to you that you are Peter, and upon this rock I will build My church; and the gates of Hades(Hell) will not overpower it. Just stand firm. Rebuke the roaring lies and accusations in your mind from the devil. For this we know. Romans 8:28 (NASB)
28  And we know that God causes all things to work together for good to those who love God, to those who are called according to His purpose. Tell hell you have change your mind.
