Isaiah 66:5 (NIV)
Hear the word of the LORD, you who tremble at his word: “Your brothers who hate you, and exclude you because of my name, have said, ‘Let the LORD be glorified, that we may see your joy!’ Yet they will be put to shame.
Isaiah 66:5 (ASV)5
Hear the word of Jehovah, ye that tremble at his word: Your brethren that hate you, that cast you out for my name’s sake, have said, Let Jehovah be glorified, that we may see your joy; but it is they that shall be put to shame.
Isaiah 66:5 (TLB)5
Hear the words of God, all you who fear him, and tremble at his words: “Your brethren hate you and cast you out for being loyal to my name. ’Glory to God,’ they scoff. ’Be happy in the Lord!’ But they shall be put to shame
I have set these 3 translations together for us to get a better understanding of the text but as you see that there have always been “haters” and there will always be victims who are despised by those who can’t bear a witness to their own self-centered character.
There are those who are despised because of their looks…
Have you ever notice the homeless people who are among us and how some people are turned off because of their apperance. The really don’t have to speak only just occupy space and they are offensive. No one ever really asked about their story but just arrive at opinions based on their own petty feelings. These are the evicted or put out. Many have been evicted from homes ,jobs and now the final eviction of being without someone to fill their needs.
Those who hear the word of God are Faithful…
How often do we forget that it is by the grace of God I am what I am. We have not brought anything into this world and we certainly want carry anything out. Another look at our text we see that the hearers of Gods Word are the recepients of the blessings. The Bible tells us that belief or faith comes from hearing.” Hear the word of the LORD, you who tremble at his word” Romans 10:17 (ASV)17
So belief cometh of hearing, and hearing by the word of Christ.
The faithful of the Lord and those who dare to live righteous in this world system will be despised and evicted from places of honor.
But joy comes in the morning…
Notice at the end of the verse:’Let the LORD be glorified, that we may see your joy!’ is our response to the shame and the hard knocks that we recieve from this world system. It means to find “joy in the Lord” no matter what you’re going through,no matter how unpleasant the situation,no matter the depth of discouragement “Rejoice Alway”. Why? Because of the Lord Jesus Christ presence.
The Apostel Paul writes in :
2 Timothy 4:14 (ASV)14
Alexander the coppersmith did me much evil: the Lord will render to him according to his works:
The Apostle Paul had been beat down with much evil and he was a forgotten man at his trail but the Apostle writes again in :
2 Timothy 4:16-17 (ASV)
At my first defence no one took my part, but all forsook me: may it not be laid to their account.
But the Lord stood by me, and strengthened me; that through me the message might me fully proclaimed, and that all the Gentiles might hear: and I was delivered out of the mouth of the lion.
Although it looked hopeless Paul could “joy in the Lord” because of His Presence. Dear Christian, no matter what you’re are going through, not matter how much hate or abuse you may receive in the work place, the Lord will stand by you when all may leave you.
You may be evicted by the world but “joy in the Lord” because He is standing by
