Hard Fighting Soldiers Of The Cross Part 1

armor-of-God.-slideWe live in a world that is at war with the church of Christ. I am not saying this to ask for your sympathy but to continue to inform of a reality. Many Christians seem to think that Christians can co-exist with this world but it is a fact that is not even close to being true. When i think of a “Hard Fighting Soldier”, i am referring to a human being that is engaged in spiritual combat with Satan’s world systems.

Paul writes to Timothy in 2 Timothy 2:1-3

2 Timothy 2:1-3 (NKJV)
1 You therefore, my son, be strong in the grace that is in Christ Jesus.
2 And the things that you have heard from me among many witnesses, commit these to faithful men who will be able to teach others also.
3 You therefore must endure hardship as a good soldier of Jesus Christ.
I would suggest to you that a “good soldier” must be a “Hard Fighting Soldier” of the cross by fighting a good fight.

Let us notice again as the Apostle Paul gives us his farewell address in 2 Timothy 4: 6-8:

2 Timothy 4:6-8 (NKJV)
6 For I am already being poured out as a drink offering, and the time of my departure is at hand.
7 I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith.
8 Finally, there is laid up for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will give to me on that Day, and not to me only but also to all who have loved His appearing.

The reality is that the church is coming up short of the mark by not preparing “Hard Fighting Soldiers who are “good soldiers that fight the “good fight”.

How do we do this? Why should we do this?
