Does God Tolerate Sin?

burden of sinTolerance for all…

Every where you turn in this land it seems that the key word for living peacefully is tolerance. This humanistic way of deal with beliefs which are opposing really don’t change anyone’s heart. The moral questions of our day that divide the culture centers around “selfishness”. it is this selfishness that allow sin to enter into the world via the first family of creation Adam & Eve. All men and women have the power of choice given to us by Almighty God. This power elevates us above the all creation in that we are the only creatures that have this power. In Genesis 2:16-17 we see the power of choice.

Genesis 2:16-17 (NKJV)
16 And the LORD God commanded the man, saying, “Of every tree of the garden you may freely eat;
17 but of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil you shall not eat, for in the day that you eat of it you shall surely die.”

God has set His Standard…

God has set His standard. But humans want to be “tolerant” of  God’s standard of morality which causes moral conflicts. Now in the garden God’s standard had been set or God’s law concerning the behavior of Adam and Eve. When they violated the “law of the Garden”, the penalty was death. God has never give man authority to say what is right and what is wrong concerning His laws. God’s law of what is good and what is evil is exclusive to Him only. God’s laws are right. God’s Word is Eternal(Timless)

 Psalm 119:75 (NKJV)
75 I know, O LORD, that Your judgments are right, And that in faithfulness You have afflicted me.

Isaiah 40:8 (NKJV)
8 The grass withers, the flower fades, But the word of our God stands forever.”
God’s law or standard is valid through out time…His standard is timeless.

When the Bible talks about sin, it is referring to violating God’s standard…

Violation of God’s standard is not a matter of interpretation but it is “lawlessness” which is sin.

1 John 3:4 (NKJV)
4 Whoever commits sin also commits lawlessness, and sin is lawlessness.

The First Family Broke God’s Standard…

Adam and Eve broke God’s Standard in

Genesis 3:6 (NKJV)
6 So when the woman saw that the tree was good for food, that it was pleasant to the eyes, and a tree desirable to make one wise, she took of its fruit and ate. She also gave to her husband with her, and he ate.
Sin and death now became a reality in the garden and the whole world. All humankind will sin or violate God’s law.

All Have Sinned…

Romans 3:23 (NKJV)
23 for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God,

God’s Penalty For Breaking His Law…

Law here is used in a collective sense meaning any of God’s laws. Now in Romans Paul writes under the inspiration of the Holy Spirit in Romans 6:23 (NKJV)
23 For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.
In this verse is the penalty for sin that we all have done and the solution to our “sin problem”. The sin problem cannot resolved by any human activity including sacrifices. All have sinned. All humanity has this problem. Now let us close by identifying the 2 kinds of death that takes place.

Physical Death….

All humans must experience physical death. This is a consequence of Adam and Eve’s sin n the garden.Genesis 3:19 (NKJV)
19 In the sweat of your face you shall eat bread Till you return to the ground, For out of it you were taken; For dust you are, And to dust you shall return.”

Genesis 5:5 (NKJV)
5 So all the days that Adam lived were nine hundred and thirty years; and he died.
Hebrews 9:27 (NKJV)
27 And as it is appointed for men to die once, but after this the judgment,

Spiritual Death…

This is separation from God throughout eternity(forever)Isaiah 59:1-2 (NKJV)
1 Behold, the LORD’S hand is not shortened, That it cannot save; Nor His ear heavy, That it cannot hear.
2 But your iniquities have separated you from your God; And your sins have hidden His face from you, So that He will not hear.
God has not, will not and shall not tolerate sin. in the following passages we get a picture of the place we will lived apart from God. It is a place of torment, gnashing of teeth, weeping agony and everlasting fire. Matthew 8:12 (NKJV)
12 But the sons of the kingdom will be cast out into outer darkness. There will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.”

Luke 16:24 (NKJV)
24 Then he cried and said, ‘Father Abraham, have mercy on me, and send Lazarus that he may dip the tip of his finger in water and cool my tongue; for I am tormented in this flame.’

Revelation 20:14 (NKJV)
14 Then Death and Hades were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death.
