Christians must be careful of their attitudes. If appears often times that when life goes into the tank, our good attitude goes right along. Our attitude affects our actions. In the book of James 1:2-4 the Bible reads: James 1:2-4 (ASV)
2 Count it all joy, my brethren, when ye fall into manifold temptations;
3 Knowing that the proving of your faith worketh patience.
4 And let patience have its perfect work, that ye may be perfect and entire, lacking in nothing.
Notice that James writes that we are to have an attitude of joy. If we look at joy from the worlds point of view, we may think that this is contradictory. I am being “beat down by circumstances but yet i must have joy? Paul encourages the saints in the book of Philippians to “Rejoice always”. If you examine 1 Thessalonians 5:18 (ASV)
18 in everything give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus to you-ward. , you can find that that and attitude of thanksgiving is the will of God.
Let us approach life from an attitude of gratitude instead of “woe is me” cause things are not going “my” way. This will require us to look at our life situation from “God’s Alreadyness”. What i mean by that is God has already taken care of our deliverece from evil before evil happens. Our trails are no surprise to God. Our life episodes just like sitcoms have been all completed. But unlike those writers who write TV sitcoms, God has written them for all His children and all of them have turned our for “our good and His glory!
Look at God’s “alreadyness ” Romans 8:28 (ASV)
28 And we know that to them that love God all things work together for good, even to them that are called according to his purpose.
A bad attitude in “life’s tough situations” is a reflection of our little faith. Little faith in temptations led to more difficult times and discouragement. Notice if you please:
Isaiah 54:16-17 (NIV)
16 “See, it is I who created the blacksmith who fans the coals into flame and forges a weapon fit for its work. And it is I who have created the destroyer to work havoc;
17 no weapon forged against you will prevail, and you will refute every tongue that accuses you. This is the heritage of the servants of the LORD, and this is their vindication from me,” declares the LORD.
No weapon formed against you shall prosper. The Bible shows us that this is the heritage of the saints. In Christ no weapon formed against us shall prosper. Matt:16:18 Matthew 16:18 (NIV)
18 And I tell you that you are Peter, and on this rock I will build my church, and the gates of Hades will not overcome
Keep pressing on with an attitude of gratitude for there is only victory in Christ Jesus!
